NAIROBI, Kenya, Jul 4 – Narok County has recorded the highest percentage of men (43%) who had two or more sexual partners in the last 12 months new report states.
According to the report released on Monday by the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS), Migori came second at 28.7 percent while Kirinyaga, Kericho, and Garissa counties had the lowest percentage with 2 percent each.
“Elgeyo Marakwet was at 28.5 percent, Murang’a (22.6 percent), Mombasa (20.9) and Tharaka Nithi (20.1 percent),” stated the report.
The report also shows that 15 percent of women and 35 percent of males between the ages of 15 and 49 had sex with someone who was not their spouse.
Of these, 37 percent of these women have used protection during intercourse while the male percentage stands at 68 percent.
“The percentage of women within the same bracket increases depending on the wealth quintile as 14% interacted with partners from the lower quantile while 22% chose those in the highest quintile,” the report shows.
According to the survey, many women prefer to interact with males who have completed at least a secondary school education, 27 percent of women interacted with those with secondary and above education while 7 percent interacted with those without.
Similarly, the report stated that 20 percent of men interacted with persons without education as compared to 43 percent who chose partners with secondary and above education.
