Vendors cash in on WRC Safari Rally boom as coca-cola backs businesses

NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 22 – As the 2025 WRC Safari Rally wraps up at Naivasha’s Hell’s Gate, local vendors are celebrating a business boom, thanks to the influx of motorsport fans.

Thousands of rally enthusiasts have fueled demand for food, beverages, and accommodation, with vendors like Teresia Wambui from Gilgil reporting brisk sales.

“My stock of 200ml Coke, Fanta, and Sprite has been selling out every hour. Coca-Cola has been restocking us, ensuring we don’t run out,” Wambui said.

Naivasha-based vendor Peter Mwangi also praised Coca-Cola’s support, which included coolers and subsidized stock, boosting his profits.

“The rally takes place in remote areas, so we’ve brought our trucks to vendors, ensuring they make good money,” said Weslene Orwoba, Coca-Cola Kenya’s Senior Marketing Manager.

Besides soft drinks, Schweppes and Keringet water have been in high demand. Other businesses—nyama choma joints, Airbnb rentals, and hotels—have also benefited.

The rally’s final day features five thrilling stages, including Hell’s Gate and Oserengoni, marking an electrifying end to Kenya’s premier motorsport event.
