NAIROBI, Kenya, Sep 1 – Senior Counsel Nzamba Kitonga says if appointed the next Chief Justice he will bring harmony between the Judiciary and National Assembly.
Kitonga who has described himself as a diplomat says he would seek to smooth out the differences between the two Arms of Government.
He says acrimony between the two institutions will and has threatened the funding of the Judiciary which he says requires more resources to address a backlog of cases.
He says MPs require civic education on the role of judges to keep them from getting ‘irritated’ by unfavourable rulings.
He says he also doesn’t expect mistrust from judges if appointed Chief Justice, given he had never served on the bench.
He says he has worked with them closely in his 36 years as an advocate and doesn’t forsee a problem.
