KISII, Kenya, Jan 30 – Kisii Governor Simba Arati has launched the construction of modern Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE) classrooms across all 45 wards in the county, alongside a free milk distribution initiative aimed at improving both learning and nutrition for young learners.
Speaking at Riankabi Comprehensive School in Ibeno, Governor Arati said the initiative aims to provide one state-of-the-art classroom per school, creating a conducive environment for pupils to learn, explore, and thrive.
“Building these modern classrooms will ensure more children have access to quality education, bridging the gap between rural and urban areas,” Governor Arati said.
The newly constructed classrooms will be furnished with modern amenities, including furniture, TV screens, and mattresses. Additionally, pupils will receive free milk three times a week, promoting better nutrition alongside education.
Governor Arati emphasized that the modern facilities will not only enhance the learning experience for children but also boost teachers’ morale and effectiveness, ultimately improving academic outcomes.
The Governor also officiated the launch of free milk distribution and the groundbreaking ceremony for a new milk processing factory at the Kisii Agricultural Training Center, marking a significant step toward supporting local agriculture and child nutrition programs.
