NAIROBI, Kenya, Sep 7 – Individuals and companies that are passionate about the development of the African continent are invited to submit entries for nomination in various categories of The Year of Return Africa (YORA) Awards 2024.
The awards, organized by US based Non-profit organization Abana International, recognises outstanding individuals and companies that have significantly contributed to the development of the African continent.
“We are thrilled to open the entry submission period for the YORA Awards and look forward to discovering and celebrating the incredible talent and innovation within Africa and the diaspora,” said Peter Kegode, Special Advisor for Abana International.
The YORA awards will mark the culmination of the inaugural Year of Return Africa summit, which is scheduled to take place on October 8 and 9, 2024 in Nairobi.
The summit is expected to play a key role in informing Africans and Kenyans in the diaspora about the investment opportunities in America.
“We are trying to enable people to understand the playbook, that is, how the Americans do their business and how we can work together,” remarked Kegode.
This will ultimately help to bridge cultural business practices and leverage the substantial economic power of the African diaspora for advancement of the African continent.
“The African-American community controls trillions of US dollars. By themselves, they can actually drive the African GDP,” posed Kegode.
By establishing the YORA awards as part of the summit, the conveners aim to encourage the diaspora to leverage on their expertise and experience to develop Africa.
“This is a unique opportunity for individuals and organizations in Africa and the diaspora to showcase their remarkable work and gain well-deserved recognition,” posed Kegode.
Entries to the YORA awards will be accepted until September 10, 2024. Interested parties can visit the convener’s website for details on how to submit entries.
