NAIROBI, Kenya Jan 9 – Three suspects have been arrested in Samburu while trafficking bhang worth Sh5.9 million.
They include a truck driver and two occupants who were intercepted at a police roadblock within Archers Post, police said.
Police say they were trafficking 196 kilograms of cannabis that was concealed beneath sacks of beans.
They were intercepted by a multi-agency operation team during a routine roadblock check. The operation team, aided by police K-9 units, uncovered the hidden stash of drugs.
According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, a thorough search led to the discovery and confiscation of 66 bales of bhang, which has an estimated street value of Sh5.9 million. The seized drugs have been secured as evidence in the ongoing investigation.
The vehicle involved in the trafficking operation was impounded by police.
Two suspects were arrested in Kilifi last month and bhang valued at Sh14 million seized.
