NAIROBI, Kenya, May 4 – President Uhuru Kenyatta has appointed John Onsati as the new Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) Chairman.
In a special Gazette Notice, the Head of State stated that the appointment will be for a period of three years with effect from May 3.
“In exercise of the powers contained in section 5 (1) (a) of the Kenya National Examinations Act, 2012, I Uhuru Kenyatta, President and Commander in Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces appoint John Ondingo Onsati to be the chairperson of the Kenya National Examinations Council for a period of three years with effect from 3rd May 2019,” he said in the Gazette Notice.
Prior to his appointment, Onsati has been a member of the examinations body for three years.
He will be replacing George Magoha who is now the Education Cabinet Secretary.
