NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 17 – President William Ruto has recognised the Chinese business community in Kenya as a key partner in driving the country’s development agenda and strengthening bilateral ties following his State Visit to China in 2025.
In a Chinese New Year message, the President said Kenya appreciates the role played by Chinese investors and companies in implementing the outcomes of the visit and advancing long-term cooperation between the two nations.
“Kenya recognises and appreciates the contribution of the Chinese business community in Kenya, a key stakeholder in implementing the outcomes of my successful State Visit to China in 2025 and in advancing the vision of building a closer community with a shared future for the new era,” President Ruto said.
The President noted that the Chinese private sector remains central to the execution of key agreements and investment commitments reached during the 2025 visit, which focused on expanding trade, infrastructure development, industrial growth, and technology cooperation.
China remains one of Kenya’s largest development and investment partners, with Chinese firms playing a significant role across major sectors of the economy.
Ruto reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to deepening economic collaboration while also strengthening people-to-people connections under the Forum on China–Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).
He noted that 2026 has been designated as the Year of People-to-People Exchange, with planned initiatives to boost tourism, cultural exchange, education partnerships, sports and community engagement.
The President described China as an important development partner and a strong voice for the Global South and multilateral cooperation, adding that Kenya looks forward to continued collaboration with Chinese investors and businesses.
