NTSA Arrests Over 50 Pedestrians in Crackdown Along Thika Road

NAIROBI, Kenya Aug 5 – The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has arrested more than 50 pedestrians during an enforcement operation at the Allsops footbridge along Thika Road.

The authority said those arrested were crossing the busy highway instead of using the designated footbridge, an offence that also obstructed the free flow of traffic.

According to NTSA, the suspects will be arraigned at the Milimani Law Courts to face charges related to failing to use the footbridge and causing obstruction on the road.

The authority said the enforcement exercise forms part of ongoing efforts to improve road safety and reduce pedestrian-related accidents on major highways.

NTSA urged pedestrians to use designated footbridges and marked crossings at all times, warning that crossing at undesignated points endangers lives, disrupts traffic and puts other road users at risk.
