NAIROBI, Kenya Feb 19 – Kenyan Military announced Friday that they had killed 20 Al Shabaab terrorists, including their main explosives expert identified as Maalim Sheriff.

The raid was undertaken at the terror group’s training camp in Sidimo aka Catama in the Gedo region, a statement from the military headquarters in Nairobi said.

“During the engagement, the AMISOM troops killed 20 terrorists while many others escaped with multiple injuries,” said Col David Obonyo, Spokesman for the Kenya military.
He said Maalim is an Improvised Explosive Devise (IED) expert and was the “main target”.

“Maalim has been the architect of the various IED incidents in Gedo region,” he added.

During the incident, Obonyo said, the military seized 16 AK47 rifles, 6 IEDs, 2 pistols, 8 RPGs, assorted ammunition and a Global Positioning System (GPS).
