NAIROBI, Kenya, Sep 23 — The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) detectives have apprehended a senior Kiambu security official over bribery allegations.
The Deputy Officer Commanding Station (OCS) for Ikino Police Station in Kiambu County, Inspector George Chacha, was apprehended on September 11.
He was arrested alongside his accomplice identified as constable Elizabeth Mwongeli Muthoka.
EACC said in a statement on Saturday that the two demanded a sum of Sh50,000 from a complainant as a “motivation fee” to comply with a court order.
The demand was made in exchange for the Deputy OCS releasing the complainant’s motor vehicle, which had reportedly been withheld without a just cause, in defiance to a valid court order.
“The two were apprehended on Monday after receiving the demanded amount from the complainant at Ikino Police Station,” EACC said.
The suspects were processed at EACC Integrity Centre Police Station and later booked at Kilimani Police Station.
