UASIN GISHU, Kenya, July 24 – Four entrepreneurs from Uasin Gishu County have been recognized under the Biashara Pawa programme for building businesses that support jobs, innovation and economic growth.
The award winners are Antonina Makoba of Makos Textile and Tailoring, Tom Obote Ondieki of Obote Mixed Farm, Faith Kinuthia of Afrostyled Crafts Centre and Constantine Jeptum Seroney of Josco Farm. Their businesses operate in sectors including agriculture, textiles and manufacturing.
Speaking during the awards ceremony in Eldoret, EldoHub Founder Magdaline Chepkemoi said women and youth entrepreneurs are playing a key role in creating jobs and driving inclusive economic growth.
Uasin Gishu Deputy Governor Evans Kapkea urged the winners to continue mentoring other entrepreneurs, saying successful businesses help solve community challenges and create employment.
The awards were held under the Biashara Pawa initiative, which is part of the Investing in Young Businesses in Africa (IYBA-SEED) programme funded by the European Union and several European governments to support women- and youth-led enterprises in Kenya.
