On dating mobile apps such as Tinder, profile pictures can mean meeting the person of your dreams or being ignored, forever.
Some profile pictures show that people find comfort in numbers, others often show an element of adventure through travel photos, and some show that the candidates are sensitive and caring – through images of them volunteering, usually in underprivileged communities, the more foreign the better, and posing in the obligatory picture with a “local.”
The website Humanitarians of Tinder features one new photo every day of someone on Tinder who has a profile photo that features them participating in humanitarian work.
