NAIROBI, Kenya March 27 – Police shot and killed six suspected MRC attackers during a dawn raid at Malindi Casino on Thursday.

According to police, the gang of over 100 secessionist attackers raided the Casino at about 2 am and engaged police officers manning it in a fierce shoot out as they attempted to get in.

“There was a raid at Malindi Casino during which six of the attackers were shot dead,” Coast Provincial Police chief Aggrey Adoli told Capital FM News on telephone from Mombasa.

“Unfortunately, we lost one police officer who was among those deployed to guard the casino. We had four officers stationed there,” he said.

The gang is reported to have escaped with three rifles from the officers. “The officers really tried because they managed to repulse them from getting into the casino.”

“A major security operation is underway in forests around Malindi in search of this group,” he said.
