NAIROBI, Kenya Mar 2 – Five people were killed when a bus collided head-on with a truck near Mtito Andei on Wednesday morning.

Traffic commandant Jecintah Kinyua said the truck was overtaking the bus headed to Mombasa when the accident occurred at Silanga area shortly after 1 am.

“It is unfortunate that we continue losing lives due to carelessness and failure to adhere to traffic regulations,” she said.

According to police, the bus driver was among those who perished. Passengers who sustained injuries are admitted to hospitals in Mtito Andei.

“If all drivers are careful, we will be able to minimize such accidents,” she added, and appealed to drivers to respect the traffic regulations.”

She said traffic police officers who visited the scene faulted the truck driver.
