NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 29 – Mercy Wambua will act as the Law Society of Kenya Chief Executive Officer effective Febuary 1.
LSK President Eric Mutua made the announcement through a memo sent to Society members amid complaints that efforts were being made to keep Wambua from substantively taking over from Apollo Mboya who she deputises.
In a letter to Mutua, LSK Council Member Dennis Mosota accused three of his fellow Council Members of conspiring to have Wambua rejected as a substantive replacement to Mboya in favour of another candidate.
“It is manifestly clear that a section of the Council is hell-bent on subverting the collective will and binding decision of the Council through subterfuge.”
Citing the points awarded to candidates interviewed for the job on Monday, Mosota said Wambua emerged tops and should therefore be appointed as Apollo’s replacement without delay.
“I believe that the outstanding elements of the process are to communicate the Council’s decision to the candidates and publish to the members the result of the recruitment process.”

Speaking to Capital News, Mutua said that while he was aware of the existence of Mosota’s letter of complaint, it was yet to reach his desk.
