NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 4 – A total of Sh2.1 billion was disbursed to beneficiaries of the Inua Jamii programme in December last year, Labour and Social Protection cabinet secretary (CS) Florence Bore said in a statement.
The funds were wired into the accounts of 1.04 million beneficiaries, with everyone getting Sh2,000 each.
βThe funds were credited to the accounts of 1,044,922 Inua Jamii beneficiaries, with each beneficiary receiving Ksh 2000 being payment for December 2023,β the CS said.
Bore also urged beneficiaries of the programme to enroll for M-Pesa payments.
Benefactors are required to register through a USSD code to access the service.
βOrphans and Vulnerable Children beneficiaries cash transfer (OVC-CT) and persons with severe disabilities Cash transfer (PwSD-CT) caregivers are required to enroll for M-Pesa payments by dialing *222# using their registered M-Pesa phone numbers,β the CS statement read.
