Prominent entertainment personalities Sarah Hassan, Brenda Wairimu, and Luo Ohangla musician Prince Indah were among 142 Kenyans awarded the prestigious Order of the Grand Warrior (OGW) by President William Ruto during this year’s Jamhuri Day celebrations at Uhuru Gardens.
The conferment of national honors is a highlight of Jamhuri Day festivities, recognizing individuals for their exceptional contributions to their fields and service to the nation.
Evance Ochieng Owino, popularly known as Prince Indah, has made a significant mark in Kenya’s vibrant Ohangla music scene. Known for his soulful lyrics and infectious beats, Prince Indah’s career skyrocketed with hit songs like Adhiambo and Osiepe. His ability to blend traditional Luo rhythms with modern sounds has earned him widespread acclaim and a devoted fan base across the country.
Sarah Hassan first captured audiences’ hearts as the charming Tanya in the iconic local TV drama Tahidi High. Since then, she has evolved into one of Kenya’s most versatile actresses, with standout performances in critically acclaimed films and TV shows like Plan B, Crime and Justice, and Just In Time.
Sharing her gratitude after receiving the OGW, the mother of one wrote: “Truly honoured to have been awarded the title. Thank you to everyone of you for always supporting me.”
Brenda Wairimu, celebrated for her roles in TV dramas like Mali and Monica, has long been a household name in Kenya. Known for her ability to embody diverse characters with depth and authenticity, she has earned critical and popular acclaim throughout her career.
