NAIROBI, Kenya Sep 19 — President William Ruto has called a National Governing Council (NGC) meeting of the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) to plan for upcoming local elections.
The meeting slated for September 29 will be held at the Bomas of Kenya in Nairobi, UDA Secretary General Cleophas Malala announced on Tuesday.
“Pursuant to and in accordance with article 7,8.1(vi) (ix) and 24.5 (ii) of the United Democratic Alliance Constitution, the secretary general upon request and concurrence of the party leader, H.E William Ruto now and hereby convenes the National Governing Council to be held on 29th September 2023 at 9.00 AM at Bomas of Kenya,” he stated.
Malala said the NGC will also focus on the future plans of the party.
It will be attended by National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah, his Senate counterpart Aaron Cheruiyot, House Majority Whip Silvanus Osoro and Senate’s Bonny Khalwale, Governors, Senators, Members of Parliament, and Members of County Assemblies.
Malala said all elected and nominated leaders of the ruling party UDA will be required to fully regularize their subscriptions to the party.
