NAIROBI, Kenya, Sept 17 – The Project Management Institute (PMI) Kenya Chapter has been named the Sub-Saharan Africa Chapter of the Year after competing with chapters from 24 countries in the region.
The award recognises chapters based on areas including community impact, knowledge sharing, member engagement and satisfaction, organisational sustainability, PMI values and volunteer participation.
PMI Kenya President and Board Chairperson Maureen Ochang said the award reflects the contribution of the chapter’s members, volunteers, partners and leadership.
“This recognition is an extraordinary moment for PMI Kenya and, most importantly, a celebration of our members and volunteers who continue to give their time, expertise and energy to advancing the project management profession,” Ochang said.
Ochang said the chapter would use the recognition to strengthen professional development and project management capacity in Kenya.
“Our focus remains on creating meaningful value for our members, strengthening project management capability in Kenya, and demonstrating how effective project leadership and delivery can contribute to national and regional development,” she said.
PMI Kenya provides professional development, networking, knowledge sharing, certification support and other programmes for project management professionals.
The chapter has also been engaging government, businesses, development partners and academia on strengthening project management capabilities and improving project execution.
Ochang said the chapter will continue expanding professional development, community engagement and knowledge exchange.
“This achievement belongs to the entire PMI Kenya community. It demonstrates what is possible when committed professionals come together around a shared purpose,” she said.
