NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 20 — Miguna Miguna was expected to grace the Mashujaa Day celebrations at the Uhuru Gardens, after his Thursday arrival into the country from Canada where he was exiled.
Prior to his arrival, Miguna posted the two invitation cards, confirming that President William Ruto had invited him to attend the celebrations and a State luncheon at State House Nairobi thereafter.
Miguna landed at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport at 6am on board a Kenya Airways flight after four years and eight months since his deportation in March 2018.
“From the JKIA to #MashujaaDay. Then to @StateHouseKenya. Patriots are FREE to be at the JKIA. Freedom is here! Cheers,” Miguna tweeted.
Speaking to journalists, Miguna said he was glad to be back, and thanked the people of Kenya for voting in the Kenya Kwanza government that enabled his return, and the Judiciary for standing for the rule of law.
“I am extremely happy to be back home. Without this administration I wouldn’t be back, ” Miguna stated.“What happened to me should never happen to anyone else. A Kenyan-born citizen cannot be discarded in a foreign land,” he added.
Miguna had promised to unveil a ‘blueprint’ for the development and transformation of Luo Nyanza upon his return.
