NAIROBI, Kenya Aug 9 – DCP Deputy Leader Cleophas Malala has hit out at Bumula MP Jack Wambaka over his appeal to Kakamega voters to support Linda Mwananchi Movement candidates.
Malala questioned Wambaka’s intervention in Kakamega politics, arguing that the electorate should be left to make independent decisions when choosing their leaders.
“On behalf of Edwin Sifuna, give us Brian Lishenga for Kakamega Senator, give us Boni khalwale for Governor, and you, my brother Cleo, we have no problem with you. You know we have suffered a lot as young people. But let Sifuna have trousers, let him have a shirt, even underwear; let it be Linda Mwananchi,” Wambaka said.
“Wabaka, you should not be talking about suits. You yourself have not worn a suit. Go and arrange things in Bumula. Malala will arrange the affairs of Kakamega,” Malala said in response.
The political exchange highlights emerging divisions among Western Kenya leaders as various camps position themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Malala, who is among the front runners in the Kakamega Gubernatorial race, also repeated his appeal to Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale to support his bid.
“And I am ready to work with all the leaders of Kakamega, including my father Boni Khawale. I am ready to work with you. I am your son. When I was in Class Five, you treated me like a doctor; when I reached Class Six, you were already a parliamentarian. I believe you should leave this position for me. Please, Leave it for me,” he said
