NAIROBI, Kenya Aug 9 – Alego Usonga MP Samuel Atandi has welcomed all other competing political parties to campaign in ODM strongholds ahead of 2027 general elections.
Atandi observed that the ODM party upholds democratic ideals and therefore would not wish to block other parties from campaigning in its strongholds.
“Democracy is what we fought for and that is what the late Raila Odinga believed in. So, we don’t want to block anybody from campaigning in our regions” Atandi said
He however warned politicians coming to campaign in the region to respect Raila Odinga and desist from using his legacy as their campaign tool.
“We welcome you but don’t come here but please know that you are not an eighth or a quarter of who Raila Odinga was .You say that you have the spirit of Raila but the same spirit has not even germinated in you. So please don’t come here and tell us how you carry the legacy of Raila Odinga,” Atandi said.
Atandi’s remarks come a few days ahead of Linda Mwananchi campaigns Rally in Homabay led by the former ODM secretary General Edwin Sifuna.
The legislator who made the remarks during a youth empowerment exercise in Bondo cautioned the visiting politicians against blanket criticism of the government saying no government is perfect.
He on the other hand asked the electorates in the ODM strongholds remain steadfast in the party cautioning them against politicians who will come to the region portraying themselves as messiah ready to change their plight.
“Please listen to them but know that home is home. Let them not come here to tell us that they are holy and they are messiahs who will change our lives” Atandi added.
A total of 27 youth groups received assorted trades equipment including sawing machines, stone crushers, concrete mixers , water tanks ,irrigation and saloon equipment, pool tables and motorcycles worth over Sh. 4.5 million courtesy of collaboration between Micro and Small Enterprise Authority and Alego Usonga MP Samuel Atandi.
