NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 19 – Drivers on the Bolt platform are earning an average of Sh63,000 per month, with top performers taking home nearly three times more, according to the firm’s latest gig economy report.
The report shows that motorcycle riders earn slightly lower, averaging Sh56,000 monthly, highlighting income differences across ride-hailing categories.
Speaking during the release of the report at Bolt’s offices in Nairobi, East Africa General Manager Dimmy Kanyankole said the findings reflect both the earning potential and variability within the platform economy.
“The average earning for Bolt drivers is Sh63,000. For bikes, they are making an average of Sh56,000 per month,” he said.
“Top 20% of drivers earn Sh184,000, with our single top-earning driver earning Sh400,000 per month.”
The figures come as Bolt’s broader gig economy report shows more Kenyans are increasingly turning to ride-hailing as a source of income, driven by demand for flexible work and digital earning opportunities.
