NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 30 – The Nairobi County Government has officially unveiled LiquorPay, a fully automated digital platform designed to modernize liquor licensing in Nairobi, eliminate paperwork, and streamline city services for traders.
The new system is expected to reduce bureaucracy, accelerate approvals, and promote transparency in the liquor sector.
Business and Hustler Opportunities County Executive Anastasia Nyalita, said the platform addresses long-standing bottlenecks in liquor licensing.
“LiquorPay is a fully automated, contactless system. From application and inspection to payment and approval, all processes are now integrated, transparent, and efficient,” she stated.
Business and Hustler Opportunities Chief Officer Lydia Mathia, emphasized that the digital system supports entrepreneurs by saving time and reducing uncertainty.
“This system brings government services to the trader’s doorstep and eliminates the frustration of queues and opaque licensing procedures,” Mathia noted.
Liquor Board Chair Mike Rabar highlighted that LiquorPay will strengthen compliance, fairness, and oversight through data-driven monitoring, while Chief Officer for Revenue, Tiras Njoroge, added that integrated digital payments will seal revenue leakages and enhance accountability.
Director of Liquor Licensing, Rhoda Otieno, confirmed that backend systems have been synchronized to allow real-time inspections, approvals, and tracking across all sub-counties, ensuring faster turnaround times for compliant applicants.
The introduction of LiquorPay Nairobi forms part of Governor Johnson Sakaja’s digital modernization agenda, aimed at curbing corruption, improving service delivery, and making Nairobi a more business-friendly city.
This week, Nairobi City County Government officials, sub-county administrators, and liquor board members participated in intensive training sessions on the new system, equipping licensing officers with the technical and administrative skills required to transition from paper-based processes to a fully digital workflow.
With LiquorPay, Nairobi aims to set a benchmark for efficient, transparent, and digitized liquor licensing in Kenya, supporting local businesses while ensuring regulatory compliance.
