NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 20 – Joel Rabuku, son of the late Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) General Francis Ogolla, has called upon the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) to maintain their relentless pursuit against bandits and terrorist groups, including Al-Shabaab, in honor of his father’s legacy.
In his tribute, Rabuku said that it was always the desire of General Ogolla to rid the country of criminal elements terrorising the citizenry.
He urged the KDF and all those tasked with securing the country to carry forward his father’s mission.
“He viewed people the same, in his hearts of hearts, he treated all with respect, and his worst days were those that his soldiers would be taken down. I want to tell the al-Shabab and bandits who are celebrating; Watu wa Special Forces mkipewa mission ya kwenda kulima adui, maliza kabisa,” he quipped.
“That’s how Gen Ogolla would have wanted it. Kama mdosi wenu hakuwa anaogopa adui, mnaogopa nini?”
Rabuku further appealed to the KDF to remain steadfast in the course of their duty and do whatever it takes including laying their lives in service for the country.
“I want to tell even the bandits or Al-Shabaab who are celebrating the death of my father who was committed to eliminating them. I want to urge our forces not to relent in this fight and deal decisively with these criminal elements,” said Ogolla’s son during the memorial service at the Ulinzi Sports Complex, in Nairobi.
“That is how he would have wanted it.”
He added that his father was ready to sacrifice his life while fighting the criminal elements in the country.
“Do not fear dealing with these criminal elements and follow the example of your late boss [General Ogolla) boss whose ultimate dream was to have a fully peaceful Kenya,” he added.
Additionally, Ogolla’s son said that all those left behind have a duty to do their best for the sake of the country’s stability.
In a special message to the security officers deployed in Elgeyo Marakwet, where the plane ferrying General Ogolla and his entourage crashed and those who collected and ferried the bodies of the victims from the crash site, Rabuku urged them not to be discouraged but serve the country diligently.
“Those tears of the women in Baringo, and the children and the people who are displaced should not go in vain,” he said.
Ogolla will be laid to rest on Sunday in his Siaya home, in accordance with his wish to be buried within 72 hours upon his demise.
