3 KDF Recruits Die Following Medical Complications During Endurance Exercise in Eldoret

NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 30 – An investigation has been launched following the deaths of three Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) recruits while on a routine endurance exercise in Eldoret.

According to KDF, the three developed medical complications during the exercise and succumbed despite receiving immediate medical attention from on-site personnel.

 The statement indicated that they were further evacuated to the Eldoret Regional Hospital for advanced care where despite all efforts by the medical teams, they were pronounced dead.

“KDF officials have formally notified the next of kin and are providing necessary support and assistance to the affected families,” the statement said.

The military expressed its deepest condolences to the families, fellow recruits, and colleagues of the deceased.

The ongoing investigation aims to determine the circumstances that led to the fatalities and will inform any necessary measures to enhance the safety and welfare of personnel undergoing training.

The Kenya Defence Forces reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and care for all its personnel.
