NAIROBI, Kenya, Sep 19 — The Judicial Service Commission will by week’s end announce who they will be recommending to the President for appointment as Kenya’s next Chief Justice.
That is according to the Judiciary’s Director of Public Affairs and Communication Naim Bilal who has also confirmed that the Commissioners are away at the Hague on official business.
“Yes, JSC is on an official mission in the Hague. We expect results for the CJ interviews to be out this week,” he stated to Capital FM News.
Whoever they recommend will however require the National Assembly’s okay.
Eleven out of 12 who applied for the job remain in the race after a law student and one David Mwaure Waihiga bowed out of the race.

Out of the 11, seven are judges including Justice Aaron Ringera who serves on the East African Court of Appeal.
The other judges in the race are Supreme Court Judges Smokin Wanjala and Jackton Ojwang, Appellate court judges David Maraga, Alnashir Visram and Roselyn Nambuye and High Court judge Mbogholi Msagha.
The others in the race are Constitutional expert Nzamba Kitonga, Professor Makau Mutua, Principal Administrative Secretary in the Office of the Deputy President Ambassador Daniel Wambura and pastor Lucy Wanja.
