NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 11 – Five wins in their last seven matches have seen Leopards rise to fifth in the FKF Premier League standings and the 13-time champions say they are cooking something nice with a hugely young side.
Leopards have not been able to sign players over the last two seasons due to a transfer embargo, and they have continually trusted in their young players most promoted from the youth team and the results have began to bear fruit.
“What we have done is just to encourage them and believe in them. They have been with us for two seasons now and we are in the right track. They believe in our playing style and how we want them to perform. It is now bearing fruit,” said assistant coach Tom Juma.
From 15 matches this season, Leopards have won seven and drawn four and such performances have been encouraging, witnessing the huge increase in the number of fans attending their matches.
On Thursday, Ingwe picked their biggest win in almost a decade after thrashing FC Talanta 6-0.
“I am definitely delighted with the performance because apart from the six goals, we played well and kept the ball. The boys enjoyed the game and that is the most important thing. That’s how we want to play. We play simple football without complicating anything,” said the coach.
Leopards are now in fifth with 25 points, six behind leaders Nzoia Sugar and the assistant coach hopes they can continue playing in the same way.
