NAIROBI, Kenya, Dec 10 – Tusker FC were left fuming at the Ruaraka Complex Sunday evening as a 65th minute penalty was denied by referee David Mulongo in what was the biggest talking point from their 0-0 draw with Posta Rangers.
Defender Elvis Osok clearly swung his hand into the ball after missing a clearance, but instead, Mulongo turned a blind eye on calls for a penalty and waved play on.
Tusker head coach Robert Matano was left fuming and was booked as he strongly protested the decision.
It was not just the brewers who questioned Mulongo’s horrid decisions, but in the first half, Posta coach John Kamau was time and again agitated by the calls made by the referee who is no stranger to controversy.
It was the second penalty incident in the second half that the referee failed to award, as Tusker had another call shushed just minutes into the start of the second half.
The two dropped points by the brewers increase pressure on coach Matano’s shoulders, while Posta’s ambition to move back top of the standings have been dwindled and they drop to third, while Kakamega Homeboyz have moved to second after edging out Shabana 2-0 at home.
