NAIROBI, Kenya, April 2 – Actors and actresses from Multichoice Kenya’s Maisha Magic Plus and East shows won several awards at the 13th edition of the Kalasha International Film & TV Awards held at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre in Nairobi.
Sarah Hassan and Brenda Wairimu, who both star in Zari won Best Lead Actress in a TV Drama and Best Supporting Actress in a Drama respectively.
Ndungi Githuku, known by the name Serro in the show Kina, scooped the Best Supporting Actor in a Drama award while Kam U Stay producer Damaris Irungu won the Best TV Comedy.
Abel Mutua won Best Acting TV Comedy for Roast House while Charles Ouda, who portrayed Principal Karani on the Salem show, posthumously won the Best Actor award. Salem.
Pepeta, a Showmax Orignal, scooped two awards: Best TV Drama and Best Viewer’s Choice TV Drama while “The Death of A Kenyan Heiress” episode of ‘The Last Door’ show by veteran journalist Allan Namu won the Best Documentary Feature category.
The MultiChoice Talent Factory was not left behind in this fete, with the alumni class of 2022 scooping two awards. Doreen Kilimbe won Best International Film award for “The Midnight Bride” while Nduruka Njoroge won Best Regional Film award for the film “Two Let”.

“It feels so surreal. Our show ‘Kam U Stay’ has been on air since January 2024. In less than three months on air, we have been nominated and won an award. We are very excited. ‘Kam U Stay’ has unique content – we have pushed the boundaries, and we were allowed to push the boundaries of the show,” said Damaris Irungu, Producer, Kam U Stay.
MultiChoice Kenya received a total of 37 nominations across various categories, including 11 shows.
