NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 9 – Azimio La Umoja One Kenya leader Raila Odinga now says no one authorized any of the coalition’s Members of Parliament to go to State House and seek development.
Speaking during a Parliamentary Group meeting at the Maazoni lodge, Odinga castigated the leaders for being dishonest saying that he had authorized the meeting.
“If you want to see the President on decisions that affect the party you must consult the party. This people must be seen for what they are, traitors!” he exclaimed.
If anything, Odinga stated that no leader should go begging to the Executive for development yet all Kenyans pay taxes.
“The days when MPs used to go and see Mtukufu Rais on development pledges are gone,” the opposition leader stated during Azimio PG meeting.
The Former Prime Minister stated those showing dalliance to President Ruto’s administration in the name of disengaging from ‘endless politics’ are in genuine.
“If the time for politics is over then they are no jobs for MPs because that’s what you are paid for. You are politicians and that’s why you are in Parliament,” said Odinga.
Opposition Leader Raila Odinga told Azimio La Umoja One Kenya MPs who have warmed up to President William Ruto Administration to resign.
Odinga stated that the meeting where the opposition lawmakers from Jubilee and ODM met President Ruto in Statehouse was not sanctioned by the Azimio La Umoja Coalition.
“The people had not gone to ask the people who elected them whether they want to go to Kenya Kwanza,” he said.
“These members who have defected from Azimio need to resign from the positions and go,” Odinga added.
Recently, President William Ruto has rattled Odinga’s political camp by snatching elected and non-elected leaders from the Azimio affiliate parties.
The political hemorrhage within the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya coalition has continued to deal a blow Odinga’s political movement.
On Monday, nine ODM MPs held a meeting with President William Ruto at State House Nairobi.
They abandoned Odinga for what they termed as his ‘endless politics’.
“It was a very cordial meeting and the MPs were categorical that they want development and not politics,” an official privy of the meeting deliberations told Capital FM news.
The ODM leader scoffed at the explanation by the MPs who met President Ruto in search of unity and development for the constituents.
Odinga expressed the 2010 constitution clearly separates functions between the Executive and Legislature and therefore Statehouse visits to strategize development were unwarranted.
“These people must be seen for what they are. They are traitors in the cause of the revolution!” he exclaimed.
Odinga further poured cold water on Speaker Moses Wetangula ruling that Kenya Kwanza Alliance holds the majority in the National Assembly.
He pointed out that all post coalition agreement made ever since August 9th general elections were nothing short of ‘political prostitution’.
“Political prostitution must be condemned by all civilized Kenyans and then now the Kenya Kwanza Alliance is celebrating of having a majority. It’s a superficial majority,”Odinga noted.
Wetangula ruled that Kenya Kwanza Alliance has majority with 179 MPs with Azimio La Umoja minority with 157 MPs.
He based his ruling on the move by MCCP, PAA, UDM and MDG to sign a post election agreement with KKA.
