NAIROBI, Kenya, June 24, 2026 – Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League champions Gor Mahia have complained over what it terms as ‘unverified information’ regarding the club’s transfer business.
In a statement, secretary general Nicanor Arum said no player has been officially signed or released.
“While it is true the club has engaged a number of players as part of its ongoing planning and evaluation process, no player has been officially signed or released at this time. We therefore urge our supporters and stakeholders to disregard unverified information and speculation being shared across various platforms,” Arum said.
The statement comes amid rumour mills pertaining to the club’s transfer business ahead of the busy 2026/27 season in which they will be competing in the Caf Champions League — among other major competitions.
Among the speculation is a controversial move for AFC Leopards custodian Humphrey Katasi, who is reportedly set to move to K’Ogalo as a backup for Byrne Omondi.
Long-term goalkeeper Gad Mathews has also been linked with a move away from the club whereas the future of head coach Charles Akonnor has been additionally up in the air.
Regardless, Arum move to dispel such rumours, adding that the club’s transfer business will be undertaken with decorum befitting of its stature.
“The club remains committed to conducting its transfer and squad management processes professionally and in the best interests of the team. Any official developments regarding player arrivals, departures or contract matters will be communicated through the club’s official communication channels,” he said.
The record league champions are to resume pre-season training early next month.
