NAIROBI, Kenya, July 24 — Innovation hub EldoHub has been named SME Innovation and Incubation Champion of the Year at the third annual Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) SME Awards, in recognition of its work supporting startups and small businesses.
The award was presented during the KEPSA SME Conference, Awards and Exhibition, which brought together policymakers, financiers and business leaders to discuss ways of strengthening small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
The conference focused on the challenges facing SMEs, including access to finance, technology, skills development and markets, with participants saying businesses need more than funding to grow.
EldoHub Chief Operating Officer Margaret Yebei said the recognition reflects the organisation’s efforts to help entrepreneurs build sustainable businesses.
“Our goal has always been to help entrepreneurs move past just surviving to actually thriving. Winning the SME Innovation and Incubation Champion of the Year award is a testament to the hard work of our team and the resilience of the businesses we support every day,” she said.
Industry leaders at the conference also called for policies that make it easier for businesses to formalise and expand, arguing that stronger collaboration between the public and private sectors is needed to improve the environment for SMEs.
EldoHub, which has operated for more than a decade, supports startups and small businesses through entrepreneurship programmes, digital skills training, business incubation and technology initiatives aimed at improving enterprise growth and job creation.
