Nairobi, Kenya, Mar 30 – The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is Friday set to oversee the exhumation of the remains of Interior Designer Jeff Mwathi to try and identify the gaps about the cause of his death.
DCI Boss Amin Mohammed made the announcement when he accompanied investigators to the Redwood Apartments where Jeff Mwathi died after falling off the building.
The move comes after the conclusion of the DNA and Toxicology analyses.
The boss and his officers were trying to reconstruct the scene of the crime where young Jeff was reported to have fallen to his death while visiting popular Kikuyu musician DJ Fatxo’s house.
“In the reconstruction, the DCI Headquarters Homicide team and Crime Scene personnel from the DCI National Forensic Laboratory sought to identify gaps that the exhumation is expected to provide answers once,” the DCI said.
Mohamed wants investigations into the incident to be fast-tracked to determine whether there was any foul play in Mwathi’s death.
On February 22, the victim allegedly fell from the 10th-floor window of the Redwood apartment belonging to DJ Fatxo, real name Lawrence Njuguna while he partied with his friends.
Reports indicate that Mwathi had met the entertainer hours earlier to hold discussions about an interior design gig that DJ Fatxo wanted him to undertake for a fee.
He assured the public that no stone will be left unturned in the investigations.
“The DCI assures the family and members of the public that ultimately, nothing but justice will be served,” he said.
