Things are slowly going back to normal. Companies are posting for jobs and for oldies work is picking up which is great. If there is one thing Coronavirus has taught us for sure is to go for it, whatever it is, and here centering mainly on work.
Seeing loved ones being laid off of work and being so dispensable was enough trauma for many of us and now we are learning to take that leap of fate. And as we sigh a sigh of relief that things are slowly looking up, now more than ever it is time to take that first step a thousand miles to greatness.
The step that is preparation. As we continue to apply for new jobs, new positions it is essential to plan for the interview. You know keeping in mind that we are focusing on the positive, that you can truly get the job.
So yes, applying is not the hard part, showing up for yourself might prove to be a hustle. Especially for first-timers, hello dear graduates.
Therefore here are some pointers to get your foot not only on the door but also through the door.
1.Research
Studying is unmistakably part of preparation. Look up the organization, who they are, their clients, and basically what they are about.
On that same breathe, be sure to have a comprehensive grasp of the position you are applying for, the job description. The goal is to ensure that you can articulate and explain what it is that you do, what makes you stand out, and hence selling them on why they should hire you.
2.Be confident
This is difficult particularly if you haven’t been to several interviews before. So have a pen and paper, go through your portfolio, and remind yourself why you are awesome. Jot those down and sell yourself to the idea of having you as their best candidate. Practice in the mirror the usual questions also helps with the jitters.
But of importance, remember you are remarkable, are doing great, and deserve the best and so even without a portfolio, or enough experience, be confident enough to show up for yourself.
3.Imagine the best-case scenario
I mean what’s’ to loose right? So imagine yourself getting through the interview and landing the job. With this in mind, you are good and ready for the interview.
