JAN 30 – The Kenyan Premier League (KPL) is brimming with incredible talent, highlighting a new generation of footballers expected to shine and redefine the game in 2025. Among these standout performers poised to put up a strong challenge in the top scorer race are Ryan Ogam, Francis Kahiro, Brian Michira, Moses Shumah, and Beja Nyamawi. These players are showing outstanding commitment and talent in the 2024/2025 KPL season, carving their paths to the Golden Boot trophy in June.

Here are four key players to bet on when watching the race to the KPL Golden Boot thanks to their remarkable performances and achievements as the 2024/2025 season unfolds.

Ryan Ogam – Tusker FC

Tusker FC star striker Ryan Ogam is leading the KPL Golden Boot race at 15 goals in 14 games and has shown he has the talent and ability to record more goals. Supported by his exceptional form during the first leg this season, the 20-year-old forward has his sights set on recording at least 30 goals by June.

Ogam joined Tusker from the National Super League team Rainbow FC in August and has proven to be a valuable talent for the 12-time Kenyan Premier League champions. His remarkable performance gave him a spot in the Kenyan national squad Harambee Stars as the lead striker in the Mapinduzi Cup hosted in Zanzibar.

Francis Kahiro – KCB

KCB FC striker Francis Kahiro is another outstanding Kenyan player to bet on when following KPL match results at Sportytrader in the 2024/2025 season. The former Talanta FC striker is a good finisher and loves to score whether it’s during training or league matches.

Kahiro has been a vital player for KCB this season and will play a key role in their pursuit of the league title. With his recent dedication to improvement and recent goal-scoring prowess, Kahiro has what it takes to outrank Ogam and drive KCB toward a historic record this season.

Brian Michira – Shabana

Brian Michira has been essential for Shabana’s performance in the 2024/2025 season as his speed and trickery down the frank helped them record a dramatic rise up the table. The talented winger’s recent resurgence in confidence has also inspired his ambitions to finish the season as the top scorer. The former Kiandege Jets star has been sensational under coach Peter Okidi, transforming his game despite a slow start.

Michira’s impressive turnaround has been on full display since December during Shabana’s 2-1 victory against AFC Leopards, where he scored both goals. He struck again days later to help Shaban secure a crucial 1-1 goal over Posta Rangers. The 2021 NSL player of the year acknowledges that he had a rocky start this season, but he has made strides as he hopes to book a spot in the national team.

Baron Ochieng – Sofapaka FC

While Baron Ochieng is still a long shot in the KPL top scorer race this season, his defense versatility makes him among the best-rising stars in Kenya. The Sofapaka FC youngster can adapt in several defensive roles and excels as a left-back and a right-back. His performance last year was also reliable and consistent, leading to his inclusion in the Harambee Stars squad.
