The 2019 KCPE results have just been released and Andy Munyiri has emerged as the top student.
The Kenya Certificate of Primary Education Examination results were announced by Education Ministry Cabinet Secretary Professor George Magoha this afternoon (18.11.2019) at the Kenya National Examination Council’s offices. Andy Munyiri earned 440 marks, while three students June Koech, Flavian Onyango and Micheal Ndug’u all scored 439 marks out of a possible 500.
In the announcement, it was noted that “the number of candidates scoring 400 marks and above dropped to 9770 students 0.09% of the total 2019 candidates, from 11,559 students which were 1.10% of candidates last year.” However, the number of candidates scoring 300 marks and above did improve this year.
1,088,986 Students took their final primary level examinations in 27,000 examination centers that were spread out across the nation.CS Magoha noted, 18 counties registered more female candidates compared to male candidates while three counties namely Nairobi, Kakamega, and Nakuru registered the highest candidature nationwide.
The examinations began on October 28th and ended on the 31st, with results being released only 18 days later. This marks the fastest turnover of examination of results thanks to better examination operations and high levels of dedication from the teachers.
According to the Kenya National Examinations Council, to get the results, SMS the ‘index number’ followed by ‘KCPE’ in capital letters to 20076.
