Fan favorite YouTuber Superwoman comes out as bi-sexual on social media.
High earning Canadian YouTuber Lilly Singh also known as Superwoman has come out as bisexual on a social media post that celebrates her sexuality, race, and gender.
The “How to be Bawse” author confirmed the longtime suspicion with her post saying that she was “female, colored, bisexual” to her millions of followers and has since received a huge outpouring of support from fans.”Throughout my life, these have proven to be obstacles from time to time. But now I’m fully embracing them as my superpowers,” she continued.

Lilly has a huge following online, with almost 15 million subscribers to her YouTube channel which she describes as “comedy, inspiration, good vibes”. In 2017, she was ranked tenth on the Forbes list of the world’s highest-paid YouTube stars, earning a reported $10.5 million. Singh has featured in the annual YouTube Rewind every year since 2014.
According to a BBC article, Afshan D’souza-Lodhi, who is South Asian and bisexual like Lilly, are celebrating the YouTuber’s announcement and she believes Lilly coming out will help others to have conversations about sexuality with their family members.
“In the South Asian community there’s a hesitancy for women to take ownership of their sexuality in the way Lilly has done,” the 26-year-old writer and performer said according to the BBC report.
Lilly has been tweeting about her support for the LGBT community for many years (along with creating YouTube videos on LGBT issues), sharing her support for gay pride events and gay marriage long before she came out.
Lilly has previously commented on issues gay marriage tweeting, “I will never understand why some people think it’s okay to have an opinion about who’s allowed to get married to who. If you’re against gay marriage and think it should be illegal, you need more hobbies in life. And you should probably learn to love yourself.”
Lilly is a known philanthropist who in 2017 landed a role as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, to advocate for children’s rights. She has led a campaign called “GirlLove”, promoting girls to end girl-on-girl hate. With this, she created a “GirlLove” Rafiki bracelet with the brand ME to WE and has helped around a thousand of girls to gain an education in including in Kenya and India.
