Social media personality Aurther Mandela also known as Xtian Dela is ready to go to court over his explicit Instagram live show Club Covid.
Xtian is facing a lawsuit forged by a group of concerned parents who want to shut down the twerkfest that is Club Covid.
In a response by his lawyers on Sunday 12th April 2020, Xtian cheekily told off his opponents for trying to ‘kill his vibe’ with the top viewed Club Covid stream.
In the document that is circulating on social media, the blogger’s lawyers indicate that viewers watch the X rated content on their own volition and that it is again at their own volition that they restrict themselves from watching the live Instagram show.
They add that the aim of the live event is to suppress the anxiety and stress brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic something that even the government has been calling for.
The document also highlights Dela’s knowledge of social media usage and laws regarding content as well as distribution of the said content on a social media platform.
In a letter dated Friday, April 10, a lawyer, based at Ngugi Mburu Advocates, Nairobi, stated that he represented three parents who are accusing Xtian of infringing on the rights of teenagers.
The personality was accused of broadcasting obscene material in his show and reportedly engaged young girls before the show then later raised funds to pay the girls (‘entertainers’).
The show airs daily from 12 midnight to 4 a.m, outside the watershed period is set to return on the wee hours of Tuesday (14.04.2020) after taking a break on Sunday night/Monday morning.
The Coronavirus pandemic has birthed various Instagram live shows including the likes of Club Covid. Xtian copied the idea for the show from Canadian rapper Tory Lanez who was the first to bring on this type of entertainment to social media users through his ‘Quarantine Radio’ show.
