Musician Otile Brown’s latest song ‘Dala Dala’ featuring Kenyan boy band Ethic is performing well despite criticism from Kenyans on Twitter, including Twitter bigwig Xtian Dela.
The song released on Monday 15th July already has over 500,000 views on YouTube and is trending at number 1 in Kenya. The track features Brown’s classic bongo fusion sound as well as Ethic’s killer rhymes, which seems to have appealed to many.
However, shortly after being released, a section of Kenyans trashed the song claiming that it did not meet their expectation. A number of fans questioned why some members of Ethic did not have a role in the song. Only two members of the group; Swat and Seska sang in the song with the other two members; Zilla and Rekles missing in action.

Ethic didn’t deliver on this!! Call a spade a spade!! Let Rekles do the hook!!” Xtian Dela tweeted after the song’s release.

The new track has had critics and tweeps wrong, proving the star power of the collaboration.
As reported by Mdundo News, it is not clear why the other members of Ethic were not involved in the song, as the group is yet to release a statement on the same, but it seems that the two who were part of the project added that Ethic gengetone flair to what would have been a bongo fusion release.
However, after the release of the chart-topping collaboration, the group took to social media to address the label given to their brand of music. Taking to Twitter, they made it clear “that our style of music is not called Gengetone. We do not endorse that name.”

The Kenyan collab comes after Ethic worked on a refix of controversial release ‘Figa’ with Konshens. According to an earlier report by The Sauce, Kenyan hitmakers Ethic are soaring to new heights with a new international collabo with none other than dancehall powerhouse Konshens. The controversial new crop of artists who headlined at Day one of Koroga Festival on Saturday (06.07.19) has been dropping hit after hit since their breakthrough in the industry, ‘Lamba Lolo’. The recently released ‘Figa’ featuring radio personality Kamene Goro has garnered over one million views on YouTube.
