NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 20 — A WordArt-generated cover page of an official event programmed published by a the State Department for Industry has sparked an online debate over the use of the program for a key government conference.
The programme listing guest speakers at an Industrialization Conference slated for Monday was dismissed as a “joke” by a section of creatives online.
Some questioned how someone in the department which falls under the Ministry Investments, Trade and Industry approved the programme.
“Someone actually saw it and approved it,” Joseph Kamau wondered.
Others said they were surprised that WordArt, part of the Microsoft Word Suite, was still in use.
“Who would have expected WordArt to make a grand comeback in 2023?” a user commented.
“Ms. Word, Word Art pap! Which year are we?! 2003?” Tabibu Mwadali wondered.
Guests at the conference included Trade Cabinet Secretary Rabecca Miano, Industry Principal Secretary Dr Juma Mukhwana and Council of Governors Chairperson Anne Waiguru.
