KISUMU, Kenya, Feb 13 — Police in Kisumu have launched investigations into the attack meted on Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai in Kisumu on Sunday night.
Kisumu County Commissioner Josephine Ouko said the MCA was attacked while at a local hotel in the lakeside city.
A police reported indicated that Alai was attacked by a former Kisumu MCA Jackton Ogendo.
The former MCA who represented Nyalenda B, according to the report arrived at the hotel around 9pm and went to the location where Alai was sitting and headbutted him.
Alai sustained a slight head cut and was treated at a local hospital before writing a statement with the police.
The motive of the attack was not immediately established.
However, witnesses say the former MCA was angered by a tweet made by Alai sometimes late last year touching on the family of the former MCA.
“The fight was intensed and it took the intervention of the hotel security guards to separate them,” a source who witnessed the scene said.
Ouko says investigations are on and the former MCA will writing a statement with the police soon before any action is taken.
