In the last over 12 hours, Kenyans on X have albeit hilariously hopped on the trend “#WeAreAllKikuyus,” with most giving themselves Kikuyu monikers/names, in a quest to rubbish claims that the ongoing protests are tribal.
While the protests in Kenya continually take centrestage, there have been multiple psyops aimed at distracting Kenyans for weeks on end. With an apparent agenda to paint the unrest as emanating from only the Mt. Kenya region, X users went up in arms the rogue messaging by way of adopting Kikuyu names to counter the divisive tribal rhetoric.
It goes without saying that the X activity took on a whirlwind tangent with thousands of posts depicting Kenyans’ collective aversion to ethnic division, a first in a country that has historically been subject to the same.
