Vaping shrinks men’s testicles.
Scientists have warned that smoking e-cigarettes has a disastrous impact on male reproduction as it also lowers both libido and sperm count.
Experts from Turkey tested the impact of e-cigarettes on the testicle size and sperm of male rats – which have anatomical and genetic similarities to humans.
They measured how much sperm the rodents produced and what their testicles looked like under a microscope.
However, regular cigarettes – which have long been linked to male infertility – are even worse in terms of disrupting sexual function.
The team from Sivas Cumhuriyet University wrote: “It should be considered that although (e-cigarette) liquid has been introduced as harmless in smoking cessation studies, it could increase oxidative stress and cause morphological changes in the testicle.”
However, the study is limited as it was only conducted on rats and the authors want to probe extensively into the effects of vaping on male humans.
