Kenyan artist Vallerie Muthoni, popularly known as Brown Suga, has unleashed her latest masterpiece, Shake. It is a high-energy dance anthem that blends hip-hop, riddim, dancehall, and gengetone into an electrifying soundscape.

Produced by Pesos, Dencho, and Awe Killer — the same powerhouse team behind her EP Vision 2020 — the song sat in the archives for two years. “I knew it wasn’t the right time to release it back then, but now it feels perfect,” she explains. By collaborating with Lil Maina and Kahvinya, Shake has evolved into a sonic masterpiece that reflects both patience and innovation.
Vallerie’s rise to musical prominence began in 2017 with her debut single in collaboration with Mbithi. At just 17, her talent quickly caught the attention of fans and media alike. In 2018, she became the only female artist listed in Homeboyz’s prestigious Jumpoff Freshman Class. Over the next two years, she released two EPs, The Wavy Soul (2018) and Pisces SZN (2019), both of which showcased her ability to effortlessly transition between hard-hitting rap and soulful melodies. After a hiatus, she reemerged with Vision 2020, marking her comeback with a project that reflects her evolution as an artist in a post-pandemic world.
