A toothbrush had to be removed from a man’s stomach after he swallowed it when brushing.
The unnamed man underwent the procedure in India, where the bloodied 19cm long brush was extracted. Doctors wanted to remove it within 24 hours as they feared it could prove fatal.
Dr. Bomni Tayeng, a surgeon at Bakin Pertin General Hospital said that the patient underwent a routine recovery once the toothbrush was removed.
He explained: ‘The brush could be easily felt in the stomach and was removed through a small incision in the stomach. “This procedure took only about 30 minutes. ‘The very next day he started taking oral fluids and had an uneventful recovery. He was discharged on September 21.’
