Grammy-nominated singer Tiwa Savage is set to hit the screen in her acting debut with the upcoming Nollywood drama “Water and Garri”.
The highly-anticipated Nigerian movie will be premiering exclusively on Amazon Prime Video on the 10th of May 2024.
The film follows Aisha, an ambitious fashion designer played by Savage, who returns to her Nigerian hometown after a decade in the United States following a family tragedy. Upon her return, Aisha finds her community vastly changed, grappling with increased violence and tension. As she confronts the ghosts of her past and the guilt she left behind, Aisha must navigate a complex web of family, friendships, and the challenges of her new reality.
“Water and Garri” is more than just Savage’s acting debut; it’s a passion project. Savage also serves as an executive producer through her company, Everything Savage.

Filmed in Cape Coast, Ghana, the movie boasts a collaborative effort between Everything Savage, Unbound Studios, and JM Films. Meji Alabi takes the helm as director and editor, while Comfort Emmanuel crafted the screenplay.
“Water and Garri” joins a growing list of Amazon Prime Video’s global offerings, including Nollywood productions like “Riches” and American hits like “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.”
