Notable titles such as Real Housewives of Nairobi (RHON), Single Kiasi, and Crime & Justice have garnered significant attention from viewers.
Showmax, the African streaming platform, included a diverse range of local productions in its top-streamed list for the year. Among these titles, Second Family, the platform’s first Kenyan Telenovela, found its place alongside Kyallo Kulture, a reality series featuring media personality Betty Kyallo and her sisters.
Additionally, Twende, Kenya’s first original animation, and A Merry X-Mass, the second-ever Kenyan Christmas movie released in December 2023, showcased the platform’s commitment to diverse and engaging content. Faithless, another local 2023 production, also secured a spot on the prestigious list.
The streaming service praised RHON in March 2023, hailing it as the “biggest Showmax Original in Kenya yet.” The reality series, starring Vera Sidika, Sonal Maherali, Minne Kariuki, Lisa Christoffersen, and Susan Kaittany, not only claimed the top spot on Showmax’s most-watched list upon its launch but also shattered streaming records. RHON’s first episode became the most-watched launch episode ever for any title on Showmax in Kenya.
