‘The Greatest’ Serena Williams Graces TIME Magazine Cover Ahead Of Retirement

Tennis champion Serena Williams has been revealed as TIME Magazine’s latest cover star.

The black and white cover features the legendary athlete with her head titled high in a side profile shot.

The caption on TIME’s Instagram post for the cover refers to Serena as “the greatest female athlete of all time”. TIME praises Williams for changing behavioral expectations for female athletes, and by extension women in all workplaces, by exuding power and passion — and bringing her full self — to her hard-court office.

In a recent candid interview with TIME Magazine, Serena Williams reflected on her decision to retire from tennis, her farewell, and her legacy, among other things.

During the interview, Williams spoke about her personal life and the impact of motherhood on her decision to retire.

The 40-year-old shared that her soon-to-be five-year-old daughter Olympia was ecstatic when she learned that she would be leaving tennis, she also said that it was hard to fully remain devoted to tennis, knowing that her daughter was not a fan of her being away.

Williams announced that she is retiring from Tennis in an interview for her recent August Vogue cover.
